IP Hall of Fame Academy members
The IP Hall of Fame Academy comprises previous, living inductees into the IP Hall of Fame, the panellists from the 2006 IP Hall of Fame induction process and individuals who have been put forward for membership as a consequence of their acknowledged expertise in international intellectual property issues. Moving forward, people will qualify for Academy membership only if they are inducted into the IP Hall of Fame or if their names are submitted for consideration by an existing member.
The role of Academy members is to select IP Hall of Fame inductees from the nominations made by the global IP community.

Melvin Garner
Past president of the AIPLA and a partner of Darby & Darby in New YorkA principal at Darby & Darby law firm, Melvin C Garner specialises in the procurement and litigation of patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright matters involving various technologies. He provides infringement and validity opinions for clients and handles specialised proceedings before the USPTO, (eg, re-examinations, reissues and public use proceedings).
Garner has appeared as an expert witness, lectured on a variety of legal issues and has been a commentator on the television programme “Power Lunch”. He is a past president of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, a past president of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, a board member of the National Inventors Hall of Fame and a founder and executive committee member of the Hon William C Conner Inn. Garner is listed in Who’s Who Legal – Patents; New York Super Lawyers, Intellectual Property, 2008 and as a finalist in Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America, 2008.
